FAQ
A: Yes. Due to its size, the ballet barre must be shipped unassembled. However, assembling the barre is super easy and I include very detailed (and entertaining) instructions to complete the job in 15 - 20 minutes. It is really easy and fun.
A: Shipping varies by location but generally runs about $25.
A: The barre is not technically foldable or collapsable - however, if you choose not to glue a few key joints, namely where the feet connect to the upright bars, it can be stored flat. You definitely want most of the joints glued though, especially the joints that are parallel to the ground. The joints that face in an upright/downright position have gravity to help them stay together. Of course, I always recommend that you glue all joints for the highest reliability and best stability.
A: Yes, this barre is always available on eBay. Just search for user i.d. PIANOLANCE or if you do a search for ballet barres, you will see our listing.
A: PVC is an excellent material for making barres. I use thick wall pipe that is quite sturdy. Ballet barres are made to assist the ballarina in balance. It's not made to hang on or do gymnastics. Is it as sturdy as a metal barre or a wooden barre? Maybe not, but it's just great for home practice and any ballerina can expect to use this barre for years and years. If you need a commercial grade piece of equipment there may be better choices for you, but if you need a strong, lightweight, durable, cost effective barre, this is the one for you.
A: I am constantly making barres in my shop. I make them in batches depending on the volume I am experiencing that particular day. I usually have them in stock to ship out the next day, however, there have been times when it has taken up to a week to get the barre made and shipped. That is the rare exception and not the rule.
